David Beckham is reportedly 'furious' with Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing a “public pushback” from a host of Hollywood A-listers amid reported leaking claims made by the couple.
Royal reporter Kara Kennedy said it is not just the Beckhams who are turning their backs on the Sussexes, as more big names focus their support on the future monarchy of Prince William and Kate.
It comes after David Beckham was reportedly left “furious” with Meghan Markle suggesting that his wife, Victoria, was the source of a leak.
The Beckhams, who previously maintained positive relations with the Sussexes, were seen at their wedding in 2018.
But Kennedy believes it is not just the Beckhams who are distancing themselves from the Sussexes, with “a lot” of significant names also opting to steer clear.
“A lot of people are pushing back quite publicly against the Sussexes,” Kennedy told Dan Wootton.
“The stuff they said on Oprah doesn’t match up with what they said a few months ago, for example.
“They rowed back on racism claims and a lot of people thought ‘we need to take a step back on this’.”
Kennedy went on to add that the couple have suffered as a result of people losing interest in their status, which she claims was an inevitability after they stepped away from royal duties.
“There is a lifespan to celebrity. When they stepped back from royal life, they were the big thing.
“It’s only natural that three years on, that status has waned.
“People are starting to take sides and it’s definitely better to take sides with the future King than a couple who are associated with leaks to the press, moaning and a crusade to take on the monarchy.”
David Beckham has been friendly with Harry and his brother while Meghan bonded quickly with Victoria as a result of their shared fashion interests.
It comes after a High Court ruling allowed Harry’s claim over allegations of unlawful information gathering against the publisher of The Sun to go ahead to a trial.
The Duke alleges he was targeted by journalists and private investigators working for News Group Newspapers (NGN), publishers of The Sun and the now-defunct News Of The World.
Speaking on GB News, Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, said he expects the Duke’s legal endeavours to end in failure.
He told Dan Wootton: “Harry has over-egged the pudding. He knows fully well that the Princess, his mother, would invite journalists to lunch and meeting at Kensington Palace, which he attended.
“It was a working relationship with the media and Diana understood that, and I thought Harry did too.
“He has also accused his brother and father again of making relationships with people in Fleet Street and taking money. He is really going for this. He has to substantiate this and bring the evidence forward."
