The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit as working members of the Royal Family in 2020

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s titles have been listed as under threat ahead of King Charles' imminent Balmoral summit with members of the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who quit royal life in 2020, also retain the title of the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton.

All titles look likely to come up in conversation at the Royal Family’s Scottish residence, with sources suggesting King Charles is keen to map out how Archie and Lilibet will fit into the Firm.

Critics hope Charles opts to strip the couple of their titles.

However, such a move would likely require an Act of Parliament.

“The Royal Family are meeting at Balmoral to discuss a number of different things, but one of them will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a source told The Daily Express.

“What people don't realise is that the Balmoral gathering isn't just a summer holiday.

“The family also participates in pre-arranged meetings where they discuss the family's current position and how they can best prepare for the future.

“Last year was very much about honouring the Queen as it was the King's first time hosting the gathering since her death, but this will be about how the family can best move forward without the Sussexes.

“Not only will Harry and Meghan's tours and upcoming trip to Canada be on the agenda, but also their titles and peerages will be up for discussion.”

Harry and Meghan were handed the titles after tying the knot in 2018.

The couple are also known as the Baron and Baroness Kilkeel while the Prince was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) in June 2015.

Removing the titles would also impact Archie and Lilibet.

However, Charles is reportedly reluctant to take such action amid concern it could end reconciliation.

Speculation about the Duke and Duchess' titles comes as the couple embark on a quasi-royal tour of Colombia.

Meghan and Harry appeared more loved-up than ever last night as the Sussexes enjoyed their first series of engagements on their four-day tour of Colombia.
