Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were "not given advance warning" of Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis, sources have claimed.
The Princess of Wales announced on Friday evening via video that she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy for cancer.
Soon after, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued a statement sending well wishes to Kate, 42.
They said: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

It was subsequently reported that Prince Harry, 39, reached out to William personally after Kate’s cancer diagnosis, according to royal commentator Sarah-Louise Robertson.
Appearing on GB News on Saturday, Robertson said: “Harry reached out to his brother last night.
“There have been some text messages, some exchanges, and the fact that has happened shows that there could now be maybe a thawing and a bit of an olive branch between the two families.
“And I think, wouldn’t it be lovely if Harry could just make that apology?

The Duke of Sussex flew to London in early February to see his father, King Charles, a day after he began treatment.
The father and son duo spent roughly 45 minutes at Clarence House before Harry returned to the US and the King flew to Sandringham.
