Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Archewell Foundation has donated £250,000 to a pioneering wellness centre in Philadelphia founded by Ashley Biden, daughter of US President Joe Biden.

The donation was revealed in the foundation's newly published Impact Report for 2023-2024, which details the charitable organisation's ongoing philanthropic work.

The Women's Wellness (Spa)ce, a trauma-informed wellness centre in north Philadelphia, counts Archewell as a founding partner.

Ashley Biden, 43, a social worker by profession, created the centre drawing from her experience with the criminal justice system.

According to the Impact Report, the centre provides support and opportunities for formerly incarcerated women through the Mural Arts Women's Reentry Program.

The facility aims to create a safe haven for women affected by trauma, offering a range of essential services.

These services include nutritious food provision, exercise programmes, meditation sessions and therapeutic interventions.

The centre operates as a drop-in facility, providing a mindfully designed space for women in Philadelphia.

The initiative represents a nonpartisan effort to support women's wellness and rehabilitation in the local community.

The partnership aligns closely with Archewell Foundation's core mission of promoting mental health support and resources.

Harry and Meghan were particularly drawn to the centre's dedication to supporting women in need.

The Duchess, 43, has consistently championed women's empowerment, well-being and social justice throughout her public work.

The number of grant contributors to the organisation more than doubled this year.
