Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have instructed Invictus Games officials to call them “ma’am and sir” during their visit to Canada.
The couple are visiting Vancouver Whistler in the British Columbia to mark one year until the start of the winter games there.
Mr. Moore, the new CEO of Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, was unsure of how to address the couple during their three-day visit.
But during an interview he revealed the formal manner he was asked to address the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in.

He told the Vernon Morning Star: “I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here, and I was told the simple sir and ma’am is fine.”
The words sir and ma’am are commonly used in the US and Canada when addressing strangers or people with authority, but it is not widely used in the UK.
Meghan and Harry are no longer working members of the Royal Family as they gave up their roles four years ago, but they still use their royal titles.
The use of the Sussex title on their new platform sparked a backlash from those close to the Royal Family.
To address members of the Royal Family it is protocol to use “Your Royal Highness” on the first instance, from thereon it is acceptable to use “sir” for males and “ma’am” for females.
However, for King Charles and Queen Camilla, they should be addressed as “Your Majesty” for the first greeting.
Four years ago, at an event in Edinburgh the prince reassured attendees that they could greet him less formally.
The host told a delegate: “He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry.”
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:
An insider claimed that the duke and duchess are facing “real trouble” over their decision to use their royal titles for their new website.
The insider said: “They are going to have real trouble with the use of Sussex.
“It is a royal title and if there is any hint of commercialism about this it will be shut down.”
However, a source close to the Sussexes defended their decision telling the Mail: “Prince Harry and Meghan are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. That is a fact. It is their surname and family name.”
