Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been criticised by royal commentator Lee Cohen for their “blatant hypocrisy” with regard to the US election.
Earlier this month, the Sussexes’ charitable foundation broke its silence on the November vote by urging Americans to register to vote.
Speaking on GB News, Cohen said the couple were looking to help Kamala Harris in her bid to prevent Donald Trump from winning a second term in the White House.
“If the Sussexes sincerely wish to make a positive influence on the world and do good, as their motto says, they would withdraw entirely from public discourse”, he said.

“They lack the integrity and qualifications to influence. This is blatant hypocrisy. The Sussexes’ foundation has the audacity to play neutrality while social justice warriors Harry and Meghan consistently align themselves with left-wing causes.
“The so-called neutrality statement regarding voting is nothing but a thinly veiled attempt to interfere in the 2024 election results against a candidate that Meghan Markle has long and consistently deplored.”

The couple have not personally endorsed either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump for president.
It’s not the first time the couple have released such a statement, doing so ahead of the 2020 presidential election, shortly after their move to the US following their split from the monarchy.
The Royal Family traditionally avoid delving into politics, meaning the couple’s move has sparked criticism.
In its statement on National Voter Registration Day, September 17, the Archewell Foundation said: "In honour of National Voter Registration Day, The Archewell Foundation team came together for a meaningful volunteer activity to support and empower our communities," they said in a post to their website on September 17.
