Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spent their fifth Christmas in a row away from King Charles, after having a glitzy holiday in Costa Rica.
Insiders have claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent Christmas at their Montecito estate in California with their two children, after returning from holiday.
The Sussexes along with Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, spent the day at their family home where they were said to be joined by friends and Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
A source claimed the couple would be "cooking, playing games and swapping gifts".

They also told Us Weekly that Harry and Meghan may "have a tough time trying not to spoil the kids too much".
It is not known when Harry and Meghan returned to the US for Christmas Day celebrations.
The Sussexes' last appearance with the Royal Family at Christmas took place in 2018 at the Sandringham Estate.

PAIt was reported last month that Harry and Meghan would "not decline" the chance to spend Christmas with His Majesty.
Nevertheless, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not present with the family on Monday.

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew made a rare joint appearance at the Sandringham Estate
PALouis and his cousin Mia Tindall walked hand-in-hand to welcome well-wishers outside St Mary Magdalene Church.
Outside the church, the young royals appeared self-assured as they interacted with the public.
George and Charlotte were observed engaging in friendly conversation with onlookers. Prince William, 41, was seen escorting Louis about the estate.
In a surprising move for the Royal Family, Sarah Ferguson made her first appearance at Sandringham in 32 years. Prince Andrew, 63, also joined the royal walkabout despite stepping down from royal duties in 2019.
