Netflix confirmed the show will return for a second season

Meghan Markle has penned a handwritten note to a podcaster who expressed concern about her authenticity in her Netflix show.

The Duchess of Sussex sent the letter to Amanda Hirsch, host of the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, after Hirsch commented on social media that she was "scared" for the mother-of-two ahead of her show's release.

"Dear Amanda, I heard you were feeling scared. Don't be! This is the fun part — let's enjoy it," Meghan wrote in the note, which was signed "as ever, Meghan".

The letter, written on Meghan's official letterhead, is understood to be genuine.

Hirsch had initially voiced concerns about Meghan's Netflix series "With Love, Meghan" in January, after the trailer was released, explaining she feared the show might amplify claims about Meghan's inauthenticity.

Hirsch said: "I'm genuinely concerned for Meghan.

"I am not a Meghan hater at all.

"From the trailer, it looks like it might be kind of trying to be a Martha Stewart situation that feels a little forced."

The podcaster was visibly shocked by Meghan's personal response, sharing her reaction on Instagram.

"Obviously framing this. Beyond shook. Beyond spiraling. Did I smell the paper? Yes," Hirsch wrote, adding: "Meghan, you have a fan for life."

Many of Hirsch's 893,000 followers were impressed by Meghan's gesture, with some commenting that it made them like the Duchess "even more".

Despite criticism that the show makes her look "out of touch" and "tone deaf", "With Love, Meghan" has found success on Netflix.

The series previously held spots in Netflix's global Top 10 Shows Overview list and charted in both the UK and US.

Netflix has already renewed the show for a second season, which has been filmed and will be released this autumn.

Some observers noted Meghan's distinctive penmanship on letterhead featuring a crown, with critics questioning why she continues to use royal imagery.

The first season was watched by 526,000 households in its first five days, though this was significantly less than the 2.1 million who watched "Harry & Meghan" in a similar timeframe.
