The Duchess of Sussex's brand is set to launch next month to coincide with her Netflix series

Meghan Markle has suffered a brutal jab from a former BBC presenter.

Richard Osman, who presented Pointless from 2009 to 2022, joked about the Duchess of Sussex's Instagram video where she announced her brand relaunch - "As Ever".

Meghan, 43, took to her social media earlier this month to announce her "excitement" surrounding the relaunch.

Previously known as "American Riviera Orchard", the Duchess's business will now be known as "As Ever".

The mother-of-two explained the name means "as it's always been" - referring to her previous lifestyle blog, The Tig.

Author and former Pointless star Richard Osman and The Rest Is Entertainment podcast co-host Marina Hyde were left unimpressed by Meghan's announcement.

Hyde quipped: "She claimed in that little Instagram video, in that little 'I'm so excited to share this with you' [way].

"I always feel that if someone says I'm so excited to share this with you that whatever comes next will be appalling."

Osman added with a sarcastic tone: "If you have to say 'I am excited' then you know you are not.

"Because you should show that you're excited.

"I mean, just talking, you could say 'Oh my God she looks really excited'... but if you have to say 'Me, I'm excited,' well, you think, tell your face love."

In her Instagram video, Meghan said: "Cats out of the bag, I'm shocked we've managed to keep this a secret for so long.

"In two weeks my show is coming out, which I'm so excited for and also my business, which I think there has been a lot of curiosity about.

"Last year, I thought, you know, American Riviera, that sounds like such a great name - it's my neighbourhood, it's a nickname for Santa Barbara - but it limited me to things that were manufactured and grown in this area.

"Then Netflix came on, not just as my partner in the show, but as my partner in my business, which was huge.

"So I thought about it, and I've been waiting for a moment to share a name that I had secured in 2022, and this is the moment, it's called As Ever.

"As Ever essentially means as it's always been, and if you've followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I've always loved cooking, and crafting, and gardening.

"This is what I do and I haven't been able to share it in the same way for the past few years but now I can."
