Meghan Markle was branded "incredibly threatening" by a US actress in a fierce defence of the Duchess of Sussex.
Melissa McCarthy said she is dismayed by the current criticism directed towards the former Suits actress.
Last month, Meghan, 42, announced the upcoming launch of her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The duchess has since sent 50 exclusive jars of homemade strawberry jam to her friends and influencers, who have taken to social media to share pictures.

This resulted in Meghan being mocked, especially after King Charles's jam, which is sold from the Duchy of Cornwall, ended up selling out.
On Thursday, the Bridesmaids actress attended the Broadway opening of "Suffs" where she defended the royal mother-of-two.
She said: “It bums me out for every woman and every person, that for no reason people just like to attack."
McCarthy continued to tell Page Six: “A smart interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people.

“I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing.
"I just think how inspiring. It’s really on the people throwing the hate.”
McCarthy added that the Duchess of Sussex is “wonderful” and “awesome”.
In 2021, McCarthy appeared alongside Meghan for a video celebrating the duchess's 40th birthday and the launch of a mentorship program entitled 40×40.

The humorous video appeared to mock Meghan's royal connections, which generated much criticism at the time.
After making the video, featuring a cameo by a juggling Prince Harry, McCarthy praised the royal couple.
She told Access Hollywood: “They were so sweet and funny.
"I just found them very inspiring. They’re carving out their own lives. They’re carving out their lives for their kids.”
