Royal watchers were quick to claim that Meghan's concept is similar to a Spotify podcast named 'confessions of a CEO'

Meghan Markle has been dragged into another copyright row as the Duchess of Sussex has been accused of stealing a female podcaster's idea.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, announced that her new podcast will be called 'Confessions of a Female Founder' and will launch on April 8.

Meghan wrote: "I'm so excited to share with you something else I've been working on: 'Confessions of a Female Founder,' my new podcast with @lemonadamedia!"

The duchess signed a deal with Lemonada Media in February 2024 after the royals first podcast Archetypes was axed by Spotify in 2023.

Royal watchers were quick to claim that the concept is similar to a Spotify podcast named 'confessions of a CEO'.

The podcast, which last released an episode in 2023, description reads: "Confessions of a CEO dive into both the glamorous and the gritty sides of being a female founder."

Social media users also highlighted a second podcast 'Confessions of a Founder', with both podcasts being created by women and focus on female entrepreneurship.

Defenders of the duchess have pointed out that the similarities in the podcasts are coincidental due to the similar content and a crowed industry.

In Meghan's announcement, she added: "I’ve been having candid conversations with amazing women who have turned dreams into realities, and scaled small ideas into massively successful businesses.

"They’re opening up, sharing their tips, tricks (and tumbles), and letting me pick their brains as I build out my own business, As ever.

"It has been absolutely eye-opening, inspiring…and fun! (Because what’s the point if we can’t have some fun on this wild adventure?)"

It follows Meghan's Archetypes podcast about female stereotypes which ran for just one series and was part of the Sussexes' previous deal with Spotify which ended in 2023.

Despite these claims, the podcast has been met with excitement by follows of Lemonadamedia.
