The streaming platform is making a second series of 'With Love, Meghan'

Meghan Markle's Netflix series has been renewed for a second season despite being universally panned.

The streaming platform is making a second series of "With Love Meghan" and has announced the surprise decision just days after the first season debuted.

The show dropped on Netflix on Tuesday, and the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show was widely criticised by viewers.

But the huge interest in the programme, which features Meghan cooking and gardening, has convinced bosses to give it another outing.

Meghan has since confirmed the news on her Instagram profile while wearing a baseball cap.

A TV insider told the Sun: "This may raise a few eyebrows, but one thing which Netflix loves is controversy - and this show certainly created a lot of debate.

"Many were so scathing about the eight-part series that they thought there was no way it would get another season.

"But it seems the streamer is delighted with the chatter it's created on both sides of the Atlantic this week."

Meghan's husband, Prince Harry, and her mother, Doria Ragland, made brief cameos in the final episode of the series.

The couple's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, did not make any appearances in the show.

However, Meghan lovingly referred to them both on many occasions.

"With Love, Meghan" is the latest Sussex programme to drop on Netflix since the couple signed a lucrative multi-million pound deal with the streaming giant back in 2020.

The show was branded "over-the-top and so false" by several critics who noted that most viewers would not have the time or the luxury to create such magnificent dishes.

It comes after the Duchess of Sussex, 43, recently renamed her lifestyle brand As Ever, switching from the name American Riviera Orchard after facing trademark issues.

Meghan's products from As Ever were used quite frequently during the Netflix series, including her strawberry preserve and flower sprinkles.

The full US launch for As Ever is expected to occur in spring 2025.
