The Netflix series has been criticised for lacking celebrity star power alongside the Duchess of Sussex

Meghan Markle's new Netflix cookery show 'With Love, Meghan' struggled to attract A-list celebrities in a nightmare scenario for the duchess.

Critics have given the eight-part series a roasting as it features mostly minor celebrities and acquaintances.

Despite her connections to stars like Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams, neither appeared on the show.

A source told The Sun regarding the Netflix series: "They struggled to book guests. They had a real hard time, and it shows."

Abigail Spencer, who co-starred with Meghan in US drama Suits, makes an appearance.

Neighbour Delfina Blaquier, wife of polo player Nacho Figueras, also features.

Other guests include Meghan's LA friend Kelly Zajfen and skincare entrepreneur Vicky Tsai, who previously appeared in the Sussexes' documentary.

Two celebrity chefs, Roy Choi and Alice Waters, appear in separate episodes despite never having met the Duchess before.

The show features an awkward moment when actress Mindy Kaling refers to her as "Meghan Markle".

The Duchess quickly corrects her, saying: "It's so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle, you know I'm Sussex now."

Meghan adds: "I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go 'This is our family name. Our little family name'."

Kaling, who starred in the US version of The Office, simply replies: "Well, now I know."

This is the Sussexes' second Netflix production following their 2022 documentary "Harry & Meghan".

Prince Harry, 40, is limited to brief cameos in the cookery show.

In 2022, Meghan also launched her Spotify podcast "Archetypes", which failed but did attract bigger names.

That podcast featured stars including Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton and Mindy Kaling.
