After a lengthy chat on becoming mothers, Meghan said: “Now you have the title of Mum, just like me, [it's my] favourite title."

"I love it. I love being a mum so much, it's my favourite thing."

The duchess revealed she worries about her children even when leaving them briefly in another room, admitting to scrolling through pictures of them "endlessly" when apart.

She shared: "My husband is like, 'My love, can you just give yourself a minute? Why don't you take a bath? Why don't you go workout?' I'm like, 'I know but I just want a cuddle'."

It comes after the Duchess of Sussex corrected American actress Mindy Kaling during an exchange on her Netflix show.

During a casual conversation about childhood favourite fast foods, Kaling repeatedly referred to her host as "Meghan Markle".

She promptly corrected her guest, insisting: "It's so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I'm 'Sussex' now."

After her correction, Meghan explained the title's significance: "I didn't know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, 'This is our family name. Our little family name'."

The interaction sparked backlash from enthusiasts, including Royal expert Ingrid Seward, who pointed out that this was an improper use of her title.

She told GB News: "She is the Duchess of Sussex. She isn't really Meghan Sussex. I just feel like if you are blessed with a title, you must use it properly."

Wendy Bosberry-Scott, editor of Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage, explains: "The official surname of the Royal Family is Mountbatten-Windsor.

"However, it has long been the practice of the Royal Family, and indeed the peerage, to use a title as a surname where one is available."
