The Duchess of Sussex made a new angel investment in Midi Health

Meghan Markle has dived into the menopause market with a surprise investment.

The Duchess of Sussex made a new angel investment in Midi Health, a virtual menopause clinic, joining a $63million (£48million) Series B funding round last March.

The investment was revealed in an interview with Fortune magazine, with a source close to the matter confirming Meghan's involvement to TechCrunch.

Midi Health provides a virtual platform to help women over 35 experiencing menopause and other health-related concerns.

The California-based company attracted numerous high-profile investors in what was described as a significant move into the "$600billion (£458billion) women's health market".

Meghan joins an impressive roster of female investors in the healthcare startup, including comedian Amy Schumer, "White Lotus" actress Connie Britton, and fashion designer Tory Burch.

Other notable backers include former Meta chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, US soccer legend Brandi Chastain, and Maya Harris, niece of US Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

The company announced last September that 80 investors had contributed between £8,000 and £385,000+ each to the funding round.

Midi Health noted that its investor group includes women aged 35 to 60+ and is comprised of 40 per cent people of colour.

The investment in Midi Health adds to Meghan's growing business portfolio, which now includes more than 10 companies since she relocated to the US with Prince Harry in 2020.

A source told TechCrunch that the Duchess has been focusing on firms with at least one female founder.

Her investments span various sectors, including consumer, fintech, and edtech, ranging from early-stage to Series C companies.

Previously revealed investments include coffee brand Clevr, which she backed in 2020, and haircare and wellness company Highbrow Hippie, an investment that came to light last November.

The 43-year-old has been steadily building her angel portfolio over the past five years.

Speaking to Fortune, Meghan said: "Women need to see that they can build. Women don't need to be afraid to talk about finance. And I think the more financial literacy we have, the stronger we're going to be."

Midi Health's website indicates that an initial virtual visit with a clinician costs £192 for self-paying patients, with follow-up visits priced at £115.

The company is covered in the US by "preferred provider organisation" insurance plans, but is not covered by Medicare.

Amy Schumer has previously spoken about her positive experience with Midi Health, revealing she was prescribed medication through the platform to help with perimenopause symptoms.

The investment comes as Meghan continues to expand her business ventures, including her lifestyle brand As Ever, which launched last week with products such as jam, tea and honey that sold out within an hour.

Meghan noted her products would not be affected by Donald Trump's recently announced tariffs as "all of our products are currently made in the US".
