Meghan Markle was "not pleased" with the outcome of her experience of using box hair dye, a hair expert exclusively told GB News.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has revealed that box hair dye left her looking like "Elvira" during the pandemic.
Meghan shared the beauty mishap that occurred shortly after moving to California in 2020 on episode three of her "Confessions of a Female Founder" podcast.
During her conversation with hair colourist Kadi Lee on episode three of her podcast, Meghan admitted: "Because it was the pandemic, I kept ordering boxed hair dye. And I thought, 'I'm gonna look just like she does on the box'."

GettyThe reality proved quite different, with Meghan describing the resulting colour as "this very inky, almost Elvira-esque black hair".
Jack Miles, owner of Revyv Hair, explained that hair dyes can have different effects on hair types.
He told GB News: "Box dyes are sold as a one-size-fits-all kind of formula with high levels of harsh chemicals like ammonia and peroxide, which are designed to cover all hair types and colour.
"Unfortunately, it doesn’t take into consideration hair types, different colouring history, heat damage and chemical damage such as perming or straightening solutions.
"Like the majority of the nation during lockdown, Meghan experimented with box dye and, by the sounds of the podcast, wasn’t best pleased with her outcome."
The hair expert explained that there are "many factors that could have played into this, including her hair texture and heat damage".
He told the People's Channel: "Meghan would have had to have used significant heat on her hair to achieve a style similar other members of the Royal Family.
"This likely would have impacted the outcome that she achieved with a box dye - likely leaving her with uneven colour, excessive dryness or even worse case - hair breakages.
"While box dye might appear as a cheaper option, the majority of the time it ends with an expensive trip to the salon for them to correct the unevenness or damage that the box dye has caused."

During the podcast, the duchess also opened up about her earlier hair struggles as a biracial woman at university.
The duchess shared: "When I was at Northwestern, and I moved into Kappa — our sorority there — I don't even think they made plug-in flat irons at the time."
Meghan described using a stove-heated flat iron with a paper towel on the side, leading to concerned reactions from her fellow students.
She recalled: "I remember most of the girls in the sorority who were not Black saying, 'What's that smell? Is hair burning?' And it was just what you would do to figure out how to grapple with this texture of hair."
