The delay allowed the couple to "focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires" in California.
In the intervening weeks, the Duke and Duchess have faced a catalogue of complications.

The original brand name, inspired by the Santa Barbara coastline, was rejected by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
This is because businesses cannot trademark geographical locations.
A source told Hello magazine regarding the U-turn: "Changing the brand name is just one of the many lessons that come with being a founder."
Meghan also unveiled a new website showcasing herself and her three-year-old daughter Lilibet in the gardens of their Montecito home.

Fitzwilliams said: "I think one thing has become pretty clear. We have simultaneously got the launch as As Ever and some of the products Meghan sells will be stocked by Netflix in their new shopping malls.
"Netflix has an interest in As Ever and that the eight-part series will cause interest."
He added: "Netflix is obviously hoping there will be a positive response to the eight-part series."
