Meghan Markle has sparked criticism for using a "four-car motorcade" whilst attending a Broadway show in New York on Thursday night.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, travelled in one of three SUVs, with the other two vehicles empty apart from drivers, according to sources.
An unmarked police car also formed part of her security detail.
A paparazzi source described her security measures as "absolutely abnormal, totally over-the-top and excessive".

The paparazzi source told Page Six that Taylor Swift typically travels with just two cars - one for herself and another for her security team who arrive ahead of her.
They added that A-listers, including Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, generally use a single car, or occasionally two if travelling with family.
The source said: "Meghan is out of control and over-the-top, and it's ridiculous if the city is paying for this."
They questioned whether off-duty NYPD officers should be allowed to "run lights" as part of her motorcade.
Meghan enjoyed dinner at Ralph Lauren's Polo Bar before watching Gypsy at the Majestic Theatre.
For the outing, she wore a Houndstooth Linen-Blend Maxi Skirt by Carolina Herrera, worth over £1,000 with a £340 silk button down by Veronica Beard.
After the show, Meghan met the cast and shared photos on Instagram, particularly gushing about lead actress Audra McDonald.
