Meghan Markle’s first public appearance since the Coronation was “phoney as could be”, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, was snapped looking cheerful on a hike with her friends near her home in Montecito just one day after King Charles’s Coronation.
The mother-of-two turned down an invitation from Buckingham Palace as she opted to stay stateside with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry attended the Coronation but quickly jetted off to California after leaving from Heathrow airport immediately after his father’s Westminster Abbey service.

A royal expert slammed Meghan Markle over her appearance on Sunday.
Angela Levin, who wrote Harry: Conversations with the Prince in 2018, told GB News’ Dan Wootton: “She was doing this ‘I’m so happy, I’m so free, I’m having a very good time.
“She was going to spend the day with Archie, why wasn’t she with Archie it was his birthday?
“Where was the little boy? You know, I think the irony and the hypocrisy of that showed very much.
“And she couldn’t beat the event like the ceremony that we saw and yet she’s there thinking that she can in a dirty old black top and trousers.
“And she thinks she can overcome it by looking amazingly happy.
“It was as phony as you could be, I thought.”
Meghan was snapped out and about on Sunday wearing a scarf, sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat.

Buckingham Palace and a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed only Prince Harry would attend Saturday’s Coronation service in near-identical statements.
Buckingham Palace said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on 6 May.
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
