Three days into his reign, the King of Denmark has published a new book, The King’s Word.
This surprise publication has taken many Danes and media outlets by surprise as the new King was just crowned on Sunday.
The King’s Word gives insight into Frederik’s thoughts on topics like Denmark’s place in the world and the relationship with his wife, Queen Mary.
The book was written with Jens Andersen, who also authored the King’s biography in 2017.

In one section of the book, the King reveals how he had trouble accepting that one day he would be the King of Denmark stating that he “just wanted to be like all other boys of my age.”
He stated: “I remember my 18th birthday as something similar to the end of the world.
“It was the feeling that now everything that was fun and exciting was coming to an end. Fortunately, it didn’t.”
The book is based on interviews conducted over the past year and a half.

Another topic that comes up later in the book is the King’s faith where he mentions that he and his wife say prayers to their children every night.
The book’s cover has a side photo of the King of Denmark in a dark blue shade and is titled “Kongeord.”
The King’s Word is selling at £29 a book or 250 Danish Krone.
On Sunday, Queen Margrethe II abdicated the throne after 52 years during which she was the longest-running living monarch in Europe.
Frederik and Mary met during the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Her son, Frederik, and his wife, Mary, became the new King and Queen.
In his first public speech, the King said: “My mother, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the second, has ruled Denmark for 52 years. For half a century, she has followed the times with our common heritage as a starting point.
“She will always be remembered as a Monarch beyond the ordinary. Like few, my mother has managed to be at one with her kingdom. Today, the throne passes on.
“My hope is to become an unifying king of tomorrow. It's a task I've been waiting for all my life. It is a responsibility I take on with respect, pride and great joy.”
