There will be a major change to a role King Charles carries out during the ceremony.

The King will inspect the soldiers from a carriage, rather than on horseback, during next month’s Trooping the Colour event.

The monarch will conduct the review of soldiers from an Ascot Landau carriage alongside Queen Camilla.

Earlier this week, the Army confirmed that Trooping the Colour would go ahead despite the upcoming General Election.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has called a General Election last week which will take place on July 4 2024.

The Royal Family will greatly limit the engagements and events they attend between now and early July.

Trooping the Colour is a display of pomp and military pageantry that culminates with the Royal Family gathering on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The annual ceremony marks the official birthday of the British sovereign.
