King Charles's openness on his cancer battle has triggered “deeper emotional connections" for the monarch.
The King's former communications secretary praised the King for his public appearances since the diagnosis announcement in February earlier this year.
Julian Payne said: “People could see the King come and go during his illness and looking happy.
“That transparency has been so important.

PA“They had already accepted him as a head of state," he told the Daily Mail.
“Then they start to see him on his way to hospital or looking at his cards and they think about a family member with cancer.
“It opens up a deeper, emotional connection.”
The undisclosed form of cancer was discovered following corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate at the London Clinic, where King Charles was hospitalised in January.

The former Bishop of London added: “The reputation of the monarchy over the past year has been vastly enhanced.”
Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing that King Charles would return to full royal duties with twice-yearly overseas tours next year, subject to doctor's approvals.
It comes as the monarch returned to the UK following a successful tour of Australia and Samoa, his first international tour since his diagnosis.

Announcing his return to public duties, a statement said: "His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.
The statement added: "In addition, The King and Queen will host Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan for a State Visit in June, at the request of HM Government.
"As the first anniversary of The Coronation approaches, Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year."
The Princess of Wales also announced her cancer diagnosis in March - one month after King Charles.
After stepping back from official royal duties, Princess Kate announced in September that she had completed her chemotherapy via a video posted to her and Williams' official social media accounts.
