King Charles personally told five of his closest relatives about his cancer diagnosis before it was announced last night.
Yesterday, Buckingham Palace released a statement revealing that the King has been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
It is understood that the King told his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry about his cancer diagnosis before the Palace told the world.
Charles also informed his three siblings, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, the news in advance.

Prince Harry will fly back to the UK today to support his father after his cancer diagnosis.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to stay in the US with their mother, the Duchess of Sussex, while Prince Harry travels to visit his father.
A source close to Prince Harry has told the Mail that Meghan and their children will stay in LA while Harry travels.
GB News Royal Correspondent, Cameron Walker said that Prince William could be “taking on some of King Charles’s duties or representing the King on behalf of him, but certainly not all.”
A statement from Buckingham Palace read: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
According to the Palace the King has postponed his public duties but “remains wholly positive about his treatment.”
Despite his duties being cancelled the King will continue undertaking State business and official paperwork from home.
His Majesty chose to share his diagnosis with the world to “prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
The Queen will continue her royal duties following the announcement

Before the King went to hospital for enlarged prostate treatment, he also shared his diagnosis in the hope that it was raise awareness of the condition.
The King’s announcement led to a surge in awareness as the statement sparked a 1,000 per cent increase to the NHS website.
The King thanked the medical team involved “for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure.”
Buckingham Palace reported that the King is expecting to get back to work “as soon as possible.”
