The King and Queen will host Swedish royalty at the royal residence next month

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set for an emotional engagement with European royals to mark the second anniversary of the monarch's Coronation.

The King and Queen of Sweden will travel to Windsor Castle next week for the special meeting.

They will join King Charles and Queen Camilla in planting a tree at the royal residence on May 1.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden gifted the Royal Family a Swedish oak tree which will be planted in the Home Park of Windsor Castle.

The engagement is part of the celebrations surrounding the second anniversary of the Coronation of Charles and Camilla.

The Coronation took place at Westminster Abbey in May 2023 and was attended by world leaders and royals from across the world.

The second anniversary may be an emotional occasion for Charles and Camilla after the King was diagnosed with cancer less than a year after his Coronation.

Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that the King would briefly step back from royal duties after the diagnosis of an undisclosed form of cancer.

The monarch returned to undertaking royal engagements in April 2024 and has continued making public appearances over the last 12 months.

King Charles and Queen Camilla undertook a State Visit to Italy earlier this month.

During his time in Italy, King Charles made a candid health admission about wanting to live "long enough" to see a tree he planted grow.

The 76-year-old monarch, who is currently receiving treatment for cancer, made the comment whilst meeting representatives of the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance in Rome.

The admission came as he participated in a tree planting ceremony at Villa Wolkonsky.

The tree was donated by President Mattarella from the Castelporziano Estate and planted in the gardens of Villa Wolkonsky.

He then turned to address the British embassy staff who had gathered on the lawns to witness the ceremonial planting.

"Well I do hope that I shall live long enough to see a little bit of growth in the tree," the King quipped to applause and cheers from the assembled crowd.

Charles then added "one more," in reference to the sapling. After unveiling a plaque to commemorate the occasion, the practical monarch pointed at the newly planted tree and remarked: "Needs a bit of water."
