The King and Queen have sent a letter to the family of Barnaby Webber, the 19-year-old student killed in Nottingham on June 13, his mother has said.
During a memorial at his former Taunton School last week, Barnaby's mother, Emma Webber, thanked people for the “hundreds” of letters sent to them.
Mrs Webber revealed the family have not yet opened the letters, but felt they "had to" when it came to one with the royal cypher stamped on it.
Emma Webber said: "We have, quite literally, hundreds of cards and ones which have arrived that say things like 'Webber Family, Somerset' and 'Barney's parents, who played at Bishops Hull Cricket Club in Taunton' and they are finding their way to our front door.

"We've not yet opened them, but know that we will and we will read and treasure every single one.
"Well, there is one that we did open this week, actually, and it came from the King and Queen and we kind of felt we had to. We even got a letter opener out for it."
Students Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, and 65-year-old school caretaker Ian Coates, were killed in knife attacks in Nottingham last month.
