There will be a private service of prayer at Crathie Kirk on the Balmoral estate.

It comes as Liz Truss has given an exclusive insight into her phone call with King Charles on the day Queen Elizabeth II died.

Truss had been Prime Minister for just two days when Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral on September 8 2022.

To mark the first anniversary of the late monarch's death, Truss has sat down for an exclusive interview with GB News.

Cameron Walker, GB News' Royal Correspondent, asked: "Did you speak to the King on September 8 on the telephone and what was that discussion about?"

Truss replied: "Well, I offered my sincere condolences.

"It was a very short discussion, I offered my condolences."

Truss added that Charles appeared "very, very resolute" on the day of his mother's death.
