King Charles "stole" Queen Camilla's seat in an awkward moment after the couple's royal appearance.

The monarch, 75, returned to public engagements for the first time following his cancer diagnosis as he joined Queen Camila, 76, to visit a Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College Hospital in London.

Doctors are thought to be "positive" about his progress, therefore, it was a fitting return to royal duties for Charles to pay tribute to medical staff in the field of cancer treatment.

It was an emotional day for Charles, who revealed he was returning to cancer treatment later in the day.

But in a light-hearted moment, he and Camilla had a funny mishap while getting in the car to go home.

As King Charles stepped into the car to leave the hospital, he appeared to slide across to the other seat in the back, just as his wife tried to sit in the same spot.

Queen Camilla, carrying flowers, opened the car door to find the King was sitting in her spot.

The Queen promptly walked around to the other side of the car.

Another light-hearted moment came when the King was spotted wearing a pink tie with a T-Rex print.

The King was first spotted in the tie back in January 2023, when he visited Norbrook Community Centre and Bolton Town Hall to mark 100 years of Kellogg's, both in Greater Manchester.

He again wore the tie to attend a church service near the Sandringham estate in January 2024.

The accessory is thought to have been a Christmas gift from one of his grandchildren.

The tie is also perhaps a nod to an inside joke shared with his family, as Charles uses the initial R after his name to signify "Rex", Latin for "King".

The tie's design may signify the royal's readiness to return to public duty.

The King was said to have been keen about Tuesday's engagement since doctors gave him the all-clear to restart public events.

It was hoped the engagement would raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.
