King Charles and Princess Kate will be hospitalised over the next few weeks

Royal biographer Angela Levin has revealed the key senior royal who will help support the family over the next few months, as two key members of the monarchy will be in hospital.

In two announcements made today, King Charles and Princess Kate will be undergoing hospital procedures for health concerns.

The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic on Tuesday evening, to undergo a planned surgical procedure on her abdomen.

King Charles is to attend hospital next week for a "corrective procedure", after being diagnosed with an enlarged prostate.

Taking to Instagram, Kensington Palace shared an update on Princess Kate's health: "Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.

"The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

Just hours later, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement: "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."

Speaking to GB News, Royal Biographer Angela Levin said the King is a "very healthy man" and will be back from recovery "very soon".

She added that the two announcements being made within hours of each other was "not coincidence", and that she will need to "be calm and be with the children", and put them first.

When asked by host Martin Daubney which royals will step up in their absence, Levin revealed: "Next in line are the people who are these counsellors is Harry, which makes you shiver.

"I think that the Queen is as well, but I doubt that she would necessarily want to take that burden so soon after the Coronation."

Levin continued: "I know who it is, it will be Princess Anne. That's the person who will stand in.

"She's absolutely at the top as she wasn't before the Queen died. But now she is.

"So she's the one we can all rely on. She's jolly, hard working and efficient and always there when she's needed. So that's a relief."
