There are plans for “senior members of the Royal Family” to attend the special anniversary set to be held on June 6, 2023, at the Normandy American Cemetery.
Sources say that the King is now “building back” to key summer engagements with plans underway for the monarch to attend in-person events under medical guidance.
The Prince of Wales also plans to take part in the event to honour D-Day veterans as the service is said to be “very important” to him.
The Ministry of Defence has not unveiled the full schedule for the D-Day event but there will be a ceremony at the new British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, Normandy.

GettyPrince William is expected to continue public engagements in mid-April after he and Princess Kate spend the Easter holidays with their three children.
The princess is not expected to return to any public engagements until her medical team says she is well enough as she continues preventative chemotherapy.
Aides have also said that Charles’s attendance at any future events is “to be hoped for and planned for rather than assumed.”
GB News can confirm that the monarch and his wife will be attending Sunday’s Easter service, in what will be the King’s first official public outing since his cancer diagnosis.

BBCKing Charles is expected to sit apart from the main congregation as recommended by his medical team to shield his health.
It is understood that he will be seated slightly away from others as part of the arrangements considered an “acceptable” environment for the King at this stage.
The King is set to attend the Easter Matins service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor tomorrow but is not expected to be present for a post-service reception or host lunch, according to the Telegraph.
A palace source said that his planned attendance is a “sign of things heading in the right direction.”

The King is also hoping to attend several key events this summer including his birthday celebration, the Royal Ascot and other summer parties.
Aids to the monarch are preparing ways that the King may attend Trooping the Colour in June amidst his ongoing cancer treatment.
The King may travel by carriage from Buckingham Palace and watch the festivities from a podium rather than on horseback.
A source told the Daily Mail: “There are a number of key events His Majesty would love to attend coming up in the diary and this is at the top of the list.”
