The Royal Family have issued a message to Muslims living in the UK and around the world in celebration of Eid.

Eid al-Fitr is the "festival of breaking the fast" and follows the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

As the defender of the faith, the King marked a major occasion in the Islamic calendar.

The post was captioned: "#EidMubarak to Muslims celebrating in the UK and around the world."

The message follows King Charles hosting the first-ever Iftar meal at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

More than 360 Muslim guests gathered in St George's Hall to break their Ramadan fast on March 2.

This marked a significant moment in both British Royal history and interfaith relations.

The hall is normally reserved for special banquets and state visits.

The free event was organised by the Ramadan Tent Project (RTP), a UK charity, with support from the Royal Collection Trust.

King Charles has always shown an interest in other faiths and traditions and has often actively promoted interfaith dialogue.

The holy month of Ramadan began on February 25, with Muslims fasting between dawn and sunset throughout March.

Ramadan is a time for increased worship, charity, and good deeds for Muslims.

It also typically sees festive gatherings to break the fast.

The festivities follow a lunar calendar, so Ramadan and Eid begin on different dates each year.

UK Muslims celebrated Eid on Sunday and Monday in 2025.

The occasion clashed with the Christian holiday of Mothering Sunday, which was highlighted by the Royal Family earlier in the day.
