King Charles is understood to be "a little frustrated" about his cancer diagnosis impacting his plans, Palace sources have claimed.

The 75-year-old monarch, whose diagnosis of cancer was announced by Buckingham Palace on Monday, is back at Sandringham after staying the night at Clarence House.

He travelled to Clarence House to begin his medical treatment schedule and will continue his state duties from home, supported by Queen Camilla.

A Palace source said: “He’s on his usual good form in every way, just a little frustrated that his condition has affected not just his own plans but impacted on others.”

He has been in regular contact with Prince William, while Prince Harry flew back to Britain to see his father for 45 minutes today.

The King is said to have been urged to “slow down” by those close to him, including the Queen.

He is embarking on a “period of treatment and recovery”, according to The Telegraph, and attending an undisclosed hospital as an outpatient.

It is understood the treatment will be precise and highly specialised.

Health experts told the publication: “This isn’t a blitzkrieg, but a precision-guided missile.”

The side effects are reported to be limited. King Charles's diagnosis was also spotted at an early stage.

The King plans to continue his red boxes, audiences with the Prime Minister, Privy Council meetings and all essential business of state during his treatment programme.

On Monday, Buckingham Palace released the following statement: "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

"Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
