Prime ministers and presidents from across the world have sent their well wishes to the British monarch

Several Commonwealth nations have reacted to King Charles's cancer diagnosis as well wishes have poured in.

Earlier this evening, Buckingham Palace announced the monarch had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.


Subsequently, the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, and the Leader of the Opposition, Peter Dutton, shared well wishes for King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

In addition, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, wished King Charles well after the monarch's diagnosis was made public.

On X, Trudeau wrote: "I, like Canadians across the country and people around the world, am thinking of His Majesty King Charles III as he undergoes treatment for cancer.

"We’re sending him our very best wishes – and hoping for a fast and full recovery."

Christopher Luxon, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, posted on X: "Kia Kaha King Charles.

"On behalf of all Kiwis I wish His Majesty all the very best for a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Gibraltar commented: "HMGoG notes the statement from Buckingham Palace this evening informing that His Majesty has been diagnosed with cancer.

"HE and I have jointly conveyed the very best wishes of the people of Gibraltar to His Majesty for a quick and full recovery."

Philip Davis, the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, added: "On behalf of the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, my wife, Ann, and I offer heartfelt prayers and good wishes for the swift recovery of His Majesty King Charles III.

"His Majesty’s openness in sharing his diagnosis of cancer is an inspiration, as it brings attention to a challenge faced by many around the world.

"We look forward to seeing the King swiftly return to full health."

Buckingham Palace's full statement read: "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
