The Royal Family has been blasted for their "deafening silence" following Team GB's latest Olympic triumph, according to royal insiders.

Keely Hodgkinson stormed to gold, winning Team GB's first athletics gold medal in the women's 800m final in Paris on Monday.

The runner won silver during her Olympic debut as a teenager in Tokyo three years ago.

Hodgkinson's win was Britain’s first athletics gold since Mo Farah won the 5,000m and 10,000m double at Rio 2016.

Commentators and former Olympians like Jessica Ennis-Hill rushed to congratulate the 22-year-old on her win.

However, the Royal Family were unusually silent on their social media channels.

Members of the Firm have been active on social media during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

For example, at the start of the Olympics, Queen Camilla rushed out an X post to congratulate Team GB's equestrians on winning Team Eventing gold.

Prince William and Princess Kate did the same plus a "well done" for Tom Pidcock who won a gold medal in mountain biking.

Two members of the Royal Family even travelled to Paris to cheer on Team GB in person - Princess Anne and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal, 73, is a member of the International Olympic Committee, while Sophie, 59, has been the royal patron of the British Cycling Federation since 2018.

Sources told The Mail that the decision of the Royal Family to not publicly congratulate Hodkinson felt like "deafening silence".

Members of the Royal Family are currently on their summer holidays, with the King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales set to travel to Balmoral Castle this month.

The royal PR teams may also be taking a break to enjoy the summer months. Some non-Olympic-related events did catch the attention of the Royal Family.

For example, Princess Kate, 42, issued a statement congratulating Andy Murray on his last Wimbledon tournament in July.

Meanwhile, Prince William personally thanked Gareth Southgate for his time as the manager of England FC after he announced he would be stepping down.
