Kate is not expected to return to royal duties for the foreseeable future as the princess ‘focuses on making a full recovery’ from cancer.
This evening the Princess of Wales released a video explaining that during a planned abdominal surgery in January, cancer was found.
The Princess of Wales is now on a recovery pathway and has started a course of preventative chemotherapy.
Kensington Palace has not provided an update on when the princess’s treatment will end or when Kate will return to working duties.

Kate did, however, note how much she enjoys her work and is looking forward to being back when she is able.
She said: “My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
King Charles has also been diagnosed with a form of cancer and has stepped back from public-facing duties on medical advice.
The monarch does however undertake private meetings such as his weekly meeting with the Prime Minister and continues his paperwork.

She said: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.
"As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”
The royal has also not confirmed which type of cancer she has been diagnosed with.

Despite her diagnosis, the princess remains in good spirits and is focused on her recovery.
She said that she explained to her three young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis: "I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.
She continued: "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.
"We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment.”
