The Princess of Wales is resting after a “successful” abdominal operation

Princess Kate ‘does not want to rush’ her recovery after an abdominal operation, according to a royal commentator.

The Princess of Wales has been resting at her family Windsor home after undergoing a surgery in January.

Royal author, Robert Jobson, has said that Kate is “functioning well” but that she is not “quite a hundred per cent.”

The princess was seen for the first time since her operation on Monday near Windsor Castle alongside her mother, Carole Middleton.

Paparazzi photographed Kate in a car wearing sunglasses as she sat beside her mother who was driving the vehicle.

Speaking to Hello! Jobson said: "From what I hear, Kate has got into a routine again and is functioning well, but she doesn't want to rush things.

“I have spoken to people close to her and I think she is recovering well but is not quite a hundred per cent."

Kensington Palace recently reconfirmed that the princess is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter.

They said: “We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant.”

There have been no further details about Princess Kate’s operation, but it was confirmed to be non-cancerous.

Jobson also discussed the King’s cancer diagnosis and Kate returning into the royal fold once she recovers.

He said: "The King was looking to make the Royal Family more focused on the main four and having two of the star people out of the picture makes that more difficult, so I'm sure she will be welcomed back with open arms when she's well enough to return to royal duties.

"She must be looking forward to that, but she also feels lucky to be able to have this time with the children and to put her recovery first."

While Kate has remained private about her operation and remained out of the public eye, the King has been very open.

Although Charles is not undertaking any public-facing duties, he has been pictured on multiple occasions since his cancer diagnosis and welcomed cameras into his in-person engagements with members of the government.

Yesterday, the monarch was pictured at Buckingham Palace in a meeting with the Chancellor.
