Princess Kate's picture of Queen Elizabeth II with royal children was manipulated, a photo agency has confirmed.
A photograph of the late monarch surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taken by the Princess of Wales, was “digitally enhanced at source”, Getty Images has said.
The photo, taken at Balmoral in August 2022, was reviewed by Getty after the princess admitted to editing her Mother’s Day picture.
Buckingham Palace released the photo on April 21, 2023, to mark what would have been the late Queen’s 97th birthday.

Kensington Palace / XA spokesman for Getty told The Telegraph: “Getty Images has reviewed the image in question and placed an editor’s note on it, stating that the image has been digitally enhanced at source.”
Several inconsistencies were noticed in the picture, including a vertical line where the tartan of Queen Elizabeth II’s skirt did not match.
A dark shadow was visible behind Prince Louis’ ear, and a similar black patch could be seen behind Prince George’s collar.
There were also signs of digital repetition of Mia Tindall’s hair, the eldest daughter of Mike and Zara Tindall.
This development comes as Princess Kate's Mother's Day photograph was "killed" by six international photo agencies over fears it had been manipulated.
Kate, 42, later took to social media to apologise for the confusion over her edits.
She wrote on X: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.
"I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.
