The Princess of Wales could start a new role at the oldest continuously operating yacht club in the world
Princess Kate looks set to make a huge decision in the race to replace King Charles for a major role, a report has claimed.
The 41-year-old has been earmarked as a favourite to become commodore at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge.
The club’s previous royal patrons include Lord Mountbatten and Prince Philip.
King Charles took on the role after Prince Andrew relinquished his positions due to his links to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duchess of Cornwall, who is a known sailing enthusiast, was described as an excellent fit.
A senior member of the club told MailOnline: “Kate would be a great role model.
“But the trouble is, royal protocol dictates that it's up to her and the Royal Family to make the first move.”
The mother-of-three is known as a sporty member of the Firm.
Princess Kate took part in the Sisterhood Challenge rowing event before her marriage to Prince William.
She took part in a catamaran race with Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie in Plymouth last summer.
The Prince and Princess of Wales also brought Princess Charlotte and Prince George to the Isle of Wight for the King’s Cup regatta in 2019.
The 41-year-old holds over 20 patronages and several, including the All England Tennis Club and SportsAid.
