The Prince and Princess of Wales released a three-minute video announcing Kate's chemotherapy treatment had finished
The last nine months are thought to be among the most challenging of the Princess of Wales's life.
Major abdominal surgery was followed by intense public and media interest in her condition, while she was privately coming to terms with an unexpected cancer diagnosis.
Her decision to bravely make that diagnosis public in a raw and honest video tugged at the nation's heartstrings.
Since then, the princess has remained largely out of the spotlight as she completed a course of preventative chemotherapy.
On Monday, it was Catherine's turn to take control of the narrative: telling the world in her own words that she has completed her chemotherapy and is focused on "staying cancer-free".
In a deeply personal video shot by the independent videographer Will Warr (who also filmed the Waleses' behind-the-scenes Coronation video in May 2023), the princess offered an intimate insight into her recovery and the prioritisation of spending time with close family.
It is clear from the video that family is everything to the Princess of Wales, who made a deliberate point of including her supportive parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, in the video.
The sanctuary the princess has found in nature while recovering from chemotherapy was also a theme offered throughout the film.

PAThe intimate interactions with her nearest and dearest, her husband and three children, made the Wales family relatable to millions around the world going through their cancer journeys.
It was also a clear sign the prince and princess wanted to do things "their way", unbound by royal protocol and keeping control of a narrative that (at times earlier this year) appeared to run away from them.
Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis featured heavily in the three-minute video, suggesting Her Royal Highness places a deep importance on spending as much time with her husband and children as possible during her cancer treatment - appreciating the little things in life, and taking nothing for granted.
Although Catherine's course of chemotherapy is now over, the princess is not completely out of the woods.

There is no suggestion from Kensington Palace that she is in remission, nor has been "cured".
The princess has said herself that the focus is on "staying cancer-free", and there is certainly cause for optimism.
Her Royal Highness plans to carry out a handful of engagements over the next few months, and plans are in the works for her to attend the Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cenotaph and her annual carol service at Westminster Abbey.
It is understood public engagements, focused on her early childhood work, will be a particular priority for her.

However, not a single engagement has been confirmed by Kensington Palace, which suggests the princess still has good days and bad days with her health.
It is likely public engagements will be announced much closer to the time.
To be clear, completing her course of chemotherapy is certainly good news for the princess, but her cancer journey is not over just yet.
