The Prince and Princess of Wales have focused largely on separate royal outings

Princess Kate and Prince William will step out together "whenever possible" as Kensington Palace plans their future engagements, a royal commentator has claimed.

Richard Fitzwilliams shared exclusive insights with GB News about the future balance of engagements for the Prince and Princess of Wales.

His comments come as Princess Kate continues her recovery following her cancer diagnosis last year.

Fitzwilliams addressed whether the royal couple will focus more on individual appearances or return to their popular joint engagements.

The royal couple have made select joint appearances in recent months, including at the Commonwealth Day Service and the Six Nations.

However, most of their engagements have been separate, with Prince William, 42, stepping out alone in Bristol and Aberdeen this week. Meanwhile, Princess Kate, 43, took the spotlight at the St Patrick's Day parade.

"I'm sure that whenever possible, they will perform joint engagements, because they are the world's most glamorous royal couple," Fitzwilliams told GB News.

He explained that while circumstances have changed, the couple's joint appearances remain highly anticipated.

"Obviously things have altered, and it will take time, a considerable time," he said.

The royal expert pointed to their joint engagement in Southport in September 2024 as "most successful" and suggested it would serve as a "template" for future appearances.

"We know that she's still got a long way to go, and we know also things are progressing in the right direction as she's in remission," Fitzwilliams continued.

The commentator emphasised that Kate's recovery is ongoing despite the positive development. He noted that while her cancer is in remission, her return to full public duties will continue to be carefully managed.

"But there's no doubt that the interest in them as a couple is absolutely vast," he added.

Fitzwilliams highlighted how the royal couple have each championed specific charitable causes to great effect.

"Part of their appeal is the fact that they have taken certain charitable activities, William and the Earthshot Prize and mental health, Catherine with the early years," he explained.

He noted there are "a series of them" that have received "such a boost" from the royal couple's involvement.

Fitzwilliams reflected on Kate's journey, noting that "a year ago, she was awaiting major abdominal surgery", which "led to a diagnosis of cancer."

"Luckily, now she's in remission, but you are looking at the future of the monarchy," Fitzwilliams said.

The royal commentator emphasised the couple's significance to the institution's future.

"If you look at the polls, both of them are tremendously popular and as a team, they're unbeatable," he concluded.
