Princess Kate has confused royal fans following an update about Prince Louis' schooling.

A viral social media video appeared to leave fans baffled with one reference about the youngest of the Waleses' children.

The clip circulated after the mother-of-three met with a group of schoolchildren while officially re-opening the Young V&A museum in east London.

The youngsters were asking the Princess about her three children George, Charlotte and Louis, particularly what school years they were in.

She said: "My daughter Charlotte is going into Year 4 next year.

“I'm Charlotte's mummy. And then George is in Year 5. And Louis' in reception."

Fans from outside the United Kingdom were seemingly confused by the Princess of Wales' “reception” remark.

One user commented: “Louis' in reception sounds like she left him in the lobby or something."

Another asked: "What is reception? Like preschool?".

A third wrote: "What does in reception mean?"

George, Charlotte and Louis attend Berkshire’s independent Lambrook School.

The trio previously enrolled at Thomas’s in Battersea near the Waleses' London home Kensington Palace.

Prince George, who turns 10 later this month, is currently looking at where to go to school after 13.
