Princess Kate's invitation to an A-lister was snubbed as the royal was not going to "promote her album".
Dolly Parton has revealed she declined an invitation to have tea with the Princess of Wales.
The musician said she was too busy promoting her upcoming album on a press tour in the UK to meet with the royal.
Patron said: "I even got invited to have tea with Kate. I felt so bad."

She continued: "I couldn't even because they had all this stuff set up, but I thought that was very sweet and nice of her to invite me to tea.
"One of these days I'm going to be able to get to do that, wouldn't that have been great?
"But she wasn't going to promote my rock album so I had to say no.
"I hope she hears it, though."
Earlier this month, a radio host opened up on meeting Princess Kate and the respectful gesture she made that stuck in his head.
The Princess of Wales teamed up with the Roman Kemp for a short film about mental wellbeing.
The radio presenter shared details about his face-to-face meeting with the senior member of the Royal Family.
He said: "We had a Zoom call, just her and me. And she was like, ‘Oh, you know, I can come over to your place and do it there [film a video].’

"And I just said, ‘No, let’s go to my parents’. It’s a bigger house. I don’t want to bring royalty to a flat in Vauxhall.
Kemp told the Times: "We were sitting at the kitchen counter, with my mum and dad and my sister with all the dogs, and Kate was there with us.
"The funniest thing was she didn't have any shoes on because she was respectful enough to take her shoes off at the door.
"That really stuck in my head because you never see royalty with no shoes."
