James, who is the Princess of Wales's younger brother, reveals that Alizee's first meeting with Kate and William was not planned.
Alizee, who was James's girlfriend in 2018, had "just got out of bed" and was wearing one of his shirts when she met the royal couple.
A passage of James's new book released in the Mail reveals Alizee did "not panic or rush upstairs to get dressed. Instead, she just greets everyone warmly as if it's not remotely unusual to be meeting her boyfriend's sister and brother-in-law for the first time wearing only an oversized man's shirt."

James said that Prince George and Princess Charlotte were giggling throughout the meeting and asked him many questions about his girlfriend.
He added: "I tell Charlotte and George, yes, she is my girlfriend and introduce her to them, then we are all talking and laughing as if she has been part of the family for years."
As he and Alizee were leaving, James said his sister Kate gave him the seal of approval.
James wrote: "When we all hug goodbye I get a special squeeze from Catherine, who whispers in my ear, 'She's just great.'

James and Alizee got married in September 2021 and have an 11-month-old son named Inigo.
Last week, James Middleton shared his support for his sister after the Princess of Wales released a major health update on Monday.
Princess Kate released a video confirming she has completed her preventative chemotherapy treatment.
She was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and stepped back from royal duties to focus on her recovery.
