The Princess of Wales will 'likely concentrate on her work in the early years' sector' when she returns from hospital, according to a royal author

Princess Kate should "focus on making a full recovery" rather than immediately return to work, a royal commentator exclusively told GB News.

The Princess of Wales was hospitalised in The London Clinic on January 16 for "planned abdominal surgery", where she is staying for up to two weeks to recuperate.

In a statement released by Kensington Palace, it was disclosed that Kate, 42, is unlikely to return to royal duties until at least Easter.

Victoria Arbiter, a royal author, spoke exclusively to GB News to explain what Kate is likely to focus on when she returns home from hospital.

She said: "We can only speculate in terms of how the Princess of Wales plans to spend her time while she recuperates.

"But when she’s feeling up to it, she will likely continue to concentrate on her work in the early years' sector while also trying to fulfil her obligations to the other charities and organisations she represents."

The Princess of Wales launched her Shaping Us campaign in January 2023, through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

Kate is passionate about focusing on the early years to prevent various problems from rising in later adult life.

According to Arbiter, the 42-year-old is unlikely to return to heavy royal duties immediately.

She continued: "That said, they will all be incredibly understanding of the situation and ultimately it’s more important that she focus on making a full recovery. I wouldn’t expect to see her in public before Easter."

Kensington Palace released the following statement on January 17: "Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.

"The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery.

"Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter. The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate.

"She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.

"Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.

"The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible."
