The Princess of Wales released a statement following widespread speculation about the photo

GB News host Bev Turner believes there is more to Princess Kate's story after the future Queen issued a statement on an edited photo of her and her children.

The photo, released to mark Mother's Day on Sunday, proved controversial after featuring a series of Photoshop errors.

After major news agencies chose to withdraw the photo, Kate took to social media to confirm it was her who edited the image.

Posting on the Kensington Palace official pages, the Princess said: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused."

The image, which was taken by Prince William, remains on the Kensington Palace social media pages but the original image will not be reissued.

Discussing the fallout of the image scandal on GB News, host Andrew Pierce said it was supposed to be an image to "put to bed any speculation" about the Princess's health, but has been "badly handled" by the Royal Family.

Co-host Bev Turner agreed with Andrew, claiming it has been "horrendously handled" by Kensington Palace, and the situation has been "made worse" by the statement.

Bev says she now "fears" that the Palace are not being transparent about Kate's health, asking: "What is it that Kensington Palace and the Royal Family are frightened of? What don't they want to tell us about the Princess of Wales that could be sufficiently dramatic or upsetting for the nation?"

Andrew then suggested that the original photo may not be released as there were "four, five or six photos" that the Princess edited together.

He said: "When she edited William's photograph, I can picture the scene, her saying 'William, that's useless, I'm a much better photographer than you'. The picture had to be of her because it was Mother's Day.

"She said 'I'm going to edit it, leave it to me'. They then hand it over to Kensington Palace, which is a big, sophisticated operation. That's where it went wrong, I think."

Bev and Andrew were also joined by GB News Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker, who admitted Andrew's theory "may be right".

Cameron revealed more details about the photograph, stating: "The Mail are reporting this morning that the photograph was taken on Friday in a 40 minute window.

"So several photographs were taken, then the Princess photoshopped it into one image, and then sent it to Kensington Palace's office."

Bev was sceptical about when the image was taken, asserting it was "one of the big unanswered questions".

She told Cameron: "Have they worked that out from the metadata of the image that it was taken on Friday? When was it actually taken? Was it last week? As the Palace said, the trees in the background made it look much more summery."

Cameron responded: "I understand that it was very much taken last week. There was some debate whether or not they were going to put out a photo at all, but if anything it would have asked more questions if they didn't. Because the Princess always puts out a family photograph on Mother's Day. If she didn't, I think that just would have added to the speculation."
