The future Queen marked her youngest son’s sixth birthday

Princess Kate taking and releasing a new photograph of Prince Louis on his birthday is a sign she is “getting better”, a royal commentator has claimed.

The future Queen marked her youngest son’s sixth birthday by uploading an adorable image of the six year-old Prince beaming to the Kensington Royal social media pages.

Speaking on GB News, Mail on Sunday Editor-at-Large Charlotte Griffiths said the development was cause for optimism amid a difficult period for the royals.

“I think the fact she’s taken this photo is a sign she’s getting better”, she said.

“It takes a lot of time and energy.”

The Waleses often send an image out of their children ahead of their birthdays under embargo but broke tradition on this occasion.

LATEST ROYAL NEWS:

No image of Louis was sent out ahead of time, throwing into question whether the family would be doing so at all.

Kate finally released the “new unedited” photo which was taken in the last few days in Windsor by the future Queen.

Speaking about its later than usual release, Griffiths said the press were left “on tenterhooks”.

“I think there had been trepidation”, she said.

“I think there had been some nervousness, Kate is functioning perhaps less rapidly than she used to because she is ill.

“Who can blame her for the trepidation? Since the photo has come out, everyone has been looking for signs of photoshop and I have to say there are no signs of that.

“Some background guidance was given but it was obvious, it would have been the biggest own goal to have photoshopped it in any way.”

Before Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March, she was the subject of questions about a doctored image of her surrounded by her children.

She broke her silence by posting a statement on social media, saying: “Like many photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.”

Days later, Kate announced her cancer diagnosis after months of questions about her whereabouts.

The royal has taken a backseat as a result as she continues to recover.
