Princess Kate will be "reassured and optimistic" at Adelaide Cottage with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Princess of Wales was hospitalised for abdominal surgery in January this year, and since announced she is undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy.

This has resulted in Kate, 42, stepping back from royal duties to recuperate in private with her husband, Prince William, and their three children.

The family of five lives in Adelaide Cottage on King Charles's Windsor Estate, near Lambrook School which George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, attend.

During the Easter holidays, it was reported the family spent some time in the family's country mansion Anmer Hall, located on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond claimed Kate will enjoy spending time out in the garden at her Windsor residence as the weather improves.

She said: “I’m sure Catherine will take huge solace in her gardens and the joy of being outside during these months of recuperation.

“Winter in the UK can be rather grey at the best of times, and when you are recovering from major surgery, it can no doubt seem bleak."

Bond continued to tell Notebook: “Catherine has always taken great strength and inspiration from nature and outdoor life.

"And there is something so reassuring and optimistic about the green shoots of spring – especially if you’ve planted the seeds yourself.

"She will have drawn on her love of gardening and nature – perhaps sowing seeds with her children and seeing those first green shoots appear. New life. New hope. A new cycle.”

Kate has long advocated for the positive impact of being outdoors to improve mental and physical health.

Over the years, Kate has made no secret of her love of the great outdoors.

She has proudly spoken of her own gardens, as she did in 2012 when she admitted she grows her potatoes “in sacks”.

Kate made her RHS Chelsea Flower Show debut in 2019 with her Back to Nature Garden.

Last year, the Princess of Wales backed the RHS’s campaign for school gardening, which aims to bring gardening and nature into the lives of youngsters.
