Princess Kate has released a fresh statement to highlight the importance of nature for young people.

It comes hours after Kensington Palace released a video filmed during a secret visit to the Lake District.

The cinematic video, released by Kensington Palace, showed the Princess meeting new Chief Scout, Dwayne Fields, for the first time on a walk, near the shores of Lake Windermere.

The special film featured a varied montage of nature shots, from close-ups of leaves, to panoramic mountainous landscapes.

Alongside a short clip of the video, Kate wrote about the importance of young people having access to nature.

She said: "Spending time in the natural world provides a sense of balance and belonging.

"For young people, access to nature is so important for helping to build confidence, self-belief, life skills, and a sense of perspective.

"That is why organisations like @scouts are so important. #SkillsForLife."

The caption encouraged fans to watch the full video, released on Monday, on YouTube.

The mother-of-two moved from London to Windsor in 2022 so her children had better access to outside space.

During the Kensington Palace video, Kate said: “I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional re-connection I suppose, these environments.

"Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and re-connection in what is otherwise a very busy world.”

The Princess of Wales previously revealed the sanctuary she found in nature while undergoing treatment for cancer last year.

In March 2024, Kate announced she would be temporarily stepping back from work following news she had been diagnosed with a undisclosed form of cancer.

In a boost to her health, the princess revealed she had completed preventative chemotherapy in a video released in September last year.
