"She can’t speak so he tries to guess her name."
The reviewer continued: "His first guess is Diana. His second guess is Catherine, but after [Ariel gives a disgusted] reaction, he [concludes] 'OK, definitely not Catherine.'"
The guesses of Diana and Catherine look to be referencing Prince William's mother Diana, Princess of Wales and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales.

The reviewer added during their interview with Page Six: "Disney would be disingenuous to imply those name choices were coincidental."
In the 1989 version of the Little Mermaid, Prince Eric used the name Diana when trying to guess Ariel's name.
The fictional prince also guessed the names Mildred and Rachel but not Catherine which looks to be a new addition.
Ariel also screws up her face in disgust as a response to other incorrectly guessed names in the 1989 film.
