Princess Kate is set to miss an event this week after King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped out.

The Chelsea Flower Show is a key date in the royal calendar each year, with the Princess of Wales, the King, Princess Beatrice, Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Edinburgh being regular attendees.

The famous garden flower show officially opened to the public today, while King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended the preview on Monday.

However, the Princess of Wales, 42, is likely unable to attend the event while she continues her cancer treatment.

In March, Kate announced she had begun a course of preventative chemotherapy following major abdominal surgery two months prior.

She has since stepped back from duties to focus on her recovery.

The Princess of Wales has spent the majority of her recuperation at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, although she also spent part of the Easter holidays in Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

On Monday, King Charles and Queen Camilla made their debut at the Chelsea Flower Show for this year.

The Queen, 76, wore a Fiona Clare dress which matched the King's blue checkered tie.

The Chelsea Flower Show has long been associated with the Royal Family, as Queen Elizabeth II was patron of the Royal Horticultural Society since the start of her 70-year reign.

Her Late Majesty's last visit to the show was in May 2022, just four months before her death.

Kate, Princess of Wales is a huge fan of the event and was even co-designer of the child-friendly Back to Nature garden in 2019.

Last year, the princess joined youngsters at the inaugural children's picnic during the show.

Over the years, the King's extended family have enjoyed the event, including his niece, Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who visited in 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh also attended that same year.

Despite stepping down as a senior royal, Prince Harry formerly enjoyed commissioning gardens to support his charity Sentebale in 2013 and 2015.
