Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson tied the knot at Chester Cathedral today, but their wedding day was interrupted by Just Stop Oil protesters spraying orange smoke today

GB News viewers have shared their reaction to Just Stop Oil (JSO) protesters setting off orange fire extinguishers at the Duke and Duchess of Westminster’s wedding today.

Some said it was disrespectful to ruin someone’s wedding day, describing the protest as a “cheap shot.”

The JSO protesters interrupted the departure of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster following their wedding at Chester Cathedral.

The scene is understood to have been witnessed by Prince William, who was the Duke’s usher.

As the newlyweds made their way outside the church, they were met with hundreds of well-wishers who gave them three cheers.

But two JSO protesters used fire extinguishers to let off their orange smoke in the path of the newlyweds.

Police quickly led the JSO group away from the wedding party and Cheshire Police have since confirmed that two women were arrested at the scene.

One GB News viewer penned: “JSO are disgusting trying to ruin someone’s wedding day. How would they like it if someone did it to them!”

Another YourSay user commented: “No, sorry you are just showing disrespect.”

A third viewer commented: “They could have ruined her dress on the most special day of her life!”

“Probably the two woman who tried to disrupt the wedding, have never had the joyous occasion of a wedding day! Shame on them! I hope they get a heavy fine!” another wrote.

The bride, Olivia Henson, wore a bespoke gown and veil designed by Emma Victoria Payne, a British bridal designer.

Just Stop Oil has since confirmed that they are responsible for the demonstration outside Chester Cathedral.

GB News viewer Tom Bordeaux commented: “Utterly fed up of hearing about JSO and don’t think I’m the only one. They have absolutely nothing of value to offer in terms of a useful solution to the consumption of oil and their cause is completely flawed as far as I see it.”

“They are now doing more harm than good. Everyone I know has now no respect for Just Stop Oil,” another penned.

A final GB news viewer reacted: “Just Stop Oil protesters are in need of reigning in. Spoiling a wedding is just such a cheap shot and guests are easy targets.”

Ahead of the disruption, the two women involved released statements explaining why they were demonstrating.

One said: “For countless millions around the world there is no future unless we come together to stop oil and gas. That’s why we are demanding that the next UK government work with other countries to phase out fossil fuels by 2030.”
